Carnival dried apricots are made by drying apricot fruits to remove the water content without reducing their nutritive value. Jardalu is a soft fleshy fruit, usually pale yellow to orange in colour, with a relatively large stone that is easy to remove when the fruit is ripe. They can be eaten raw, dried or cooked into a tasty dessert. Like most fruits and vegetables, the jardalu also provides some vitamin C and fibre. These apricots are energy-dense and rich in minerals and vitamins- not to mention plump and delicious. Eat them as they are or add them to your salads, oats or shakes. You can also soak them in water and add them to sauces.
Like other fruits, the dietary fibre in apricots (one cup of apricots has 3 grams of fibre), increases metabolism, which improves digestion, prevents constipation and can help the body feel fuller, longer to aid in weight loss. Apricots are great sources of vitamins A and C, and also contain vitamin E and iron.
Obviously dried apricots count as one of your five a day. The recommended portion is 30 gms (3 or 4 apricots). All dried fruit contains the same nutritional qualities as the original fresh fruit.
Carnival apricots are picked from the best farms in Afghanistan.
